Updates to the Concealed Handgun Carry License Code will start on July 24, 2019. These changes include updates to the CHCL code and rules as well as a new fee schedule (see below).
Also included in the current version of the Concealed Handgun Carry License application are 3 marijuana/medical marijuana questions. If an individual applies for a CHCL (and does not have a CHCL currently, and they answer yes to questions 23, 24, or 25 indicating they have been issued a Medical Marijuana Patient card from Arkansas or any other state) their application may be denied based on the issuance of the card. If an individual has a current Concealed Handgun Carry License and they are issued a Medical Marijuana Patient Card, and they let our office know, they would become ineligible to hold the CHCL and the CHCL would be revoked. At renewal, if an individual has a Medical Marijuana Patient card issued, and they indicate that on the application, their license would be denied/revoked. The federal prohibition applies to Medical Marijuana Patient Cards only, not caregiver/dispenser cards issued to individuals (if a caregiver/dispenser is issued a patient card, in addition to the caregiver/dispenser card, then the prohibition would apply).
Be aware that the fees are nonrefundable, if an individual is denied/revoked for any reason in the application process (barring very specific instances i.e. overpayment/incorrect fees).
