Home Firearm Safety

Gun safety begins at home!

If you are one of the million proud gun owners in America today, you probably have at least one firearm in your home. But does each member of your family know how to properly operate it? Do they know how to check if it is loaded? What about clearing the firearm if it is loaded? If you answer no to any of these questions then I would suggest that you and your family become familiar with your firearms and maybe even take a Home Firearm Safety class.

The Home Firearm Safety course is a non-shooting course and is about 4 hours long. Students in this course are taught about the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. They will also learn the NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling. Other topics covered in this course include:

* Primary causes of firearms accidents
* Firearm parts
* How to unload different types of firearms
* The different parts of ammunition
* Cleaning, care and safe storage of firearms in the home
